First time ever of replacing brake shoes and I hav to admit it was relatively easy. Minimal tools all of 3 tools. Flat head screwdriver, pliers and a hammer which I only used to tap around the drum to loosen it. Took me about and hour and half to do both sides. Old shoes were worn right down to bare metal but all fitted and working great.
Advise to anyone wanting to do it but scared to. Dont be just take photos before and as you take it off. And lay it all on floor the same way it was on the hub and you should be fine. Just like doing a jigsaw.
good luck if you do. Little tip i...
There's no need to have an r12a system converted to use r134a. There has always been the alternative of using r24a as a straight replacement, but that's about to be banned as well. Fortunately there's a 'new kid on the block' in the form of r417a which is fully compatible; as is the lubricant in it. For those in the South Yorkshire area Paul will come to you and perform a full vacuum, pressure check and recharge for a very reasonable £60. Doubtless there will be someone closer to you that has access to the same refrigerant.
Spent yesterday driving home from Dartmoor (hottest day of the year so far) towing a one & a half ton caravan four adults plus a mobilty scooter.
To help with the cooling I have a 14 in fan in front of the rad ,plus I removed the front grill, the only time the the temp got to hot was the long climb up the hill just before exeter.
Glad to be home ,had a good time on dartmoor plus a mini meet with Clive (townaceclive ).
Dave & Pam.............
Brought the bus home from getting the bumper repaired, switched off engine but key wouldn't come out. I don't have home start so thought I'd drive away a bit and get the aa to investigate, wouldn't restart.
Had a few other things on so I left it and decided to try later.
A few hours later I got back in the bus it was still the same when I started to think to myself this is just like the time I'd to rescue a mate stranded at a petrol station because they'd left their previa in gear........
Needless to say there's sod all wrong with my bus
